You will often hear some say ‘west is best’ and it certainly has a rare magic of its own. The coastline from St Ives running west to St Just is simply awe-inspiring and the coastal road is regarded by many to be one of the best in Britain. The yellow Gurnard’s Head inn is seen from afar and is a wonderful place to ‘hole up’ in all seasons. Sennen, Zennor, Lamorna, Mousehole… the list of special places around the peninsula goes on and on.
It is Cornwall’s arts capital, from the Tate St Ives and Barbara Hepworth to the former Newlyn School of artists. Penzance is home to quite possibly Cornwall’s most gorgeous street; Chapel Street runs down to the harbour and indeed the town has by far the best stock of classic Georgian architecture in Cornwall.
